Elston Armstrong Industrial Park
The Elston-Armstrong Industrial Corridor is between Laramie, Elston, Foster and Armstrong Avenues. It sits within the Jefferson Park community which has long been an important transportation link and hub. Tucked between two major interstates, the Kennedy (I-90) and Edens (I-94) Expressways, it is an easy drive to Downtown or to the northern or northwestern suburbs. It also offers convenient and abundant mass-transit options with the elevated Blue Line extending to O’Hare and the Metra commuter railroad sharing the Jefferson Park station which also acts as the terminus for about a dozen bus routes.
The corridor is home to several well-known industrial companies such as Switchcraft, a maker and supplier of electrical connectors and components; Stanley Spring and Stamping, a multi-generation metal fabricator; and Apollo Plastics, an injection molding and plastic finishing company. A recent city streetscape project, substantial investments in storefront renovations, and the opening of a Mariano’s and Chase Bank along Elston Avenue has infused a new vitality and pedestrian friendliness to the corridor.
